The undulating countryside around Astbury offers a quiet and peaceful retreat, an idyllic haven away from the present day hustle and bustle of busy working lives.

The area was famous, in days gone by, for iron smelting. The Mor Brooks headlong plunge at Astbury had long been tapped to drive water wheels, even before the falls were built.
 

The brook was dammed 15ft high and 80 yards long to form the falls, at which time the world famous Iron Bridge was raised a few miles upstream.

The Upper Forge was abandoned in 1889. Following its closure the busy little community of craftsmen dwindled.
Many of their terraced cottages at Astbury still remain although some have vanished.

Despite its secluded feel, Astbury Falls is in fact just 2 miles from Bridgnorth. The town of Bridgnorth is close to the County town of Shrewsbury, The World Heritage Site Museums of Ironbridge and to Medieval Ludlow, now famed for its annual International Food Festival.

Within the beautiful setting of the development trout fishing is available as well as ample opportunities for bird watching enthusiasts.
